SEWER BAN RESCINDED
EFFECTIVE JUNE 18, 2008
Please be advised that
the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has rescinded
the Sewer Connection Ban effective June 18, 2008.
Since capacity in the Authority’s Main Pumping Station remains
limited, the Authority requests each community submit, on a monthly
basis, the number of Certificates of Occupancy issued during the prior
month noting whether the project is new or replacement flow.
Procedures for connection to the sewer system should proceed in
accordance with the Authority’s Rules and Regulations.
In
addition, it remains important to continue efforts to reduce
infiltration and inflow throughout the Member and Customer
Communities. The Authority requests that Customer Communities document
and provide periodic updates on efforts to control extraneous flow.

Authority
Approval is required for all subdivision and site plans in the
municipalities of Fair Haven, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach,
Oceanport, Shrewsbury, and West Long Branch connecting to the
Authority’s Sanitary Sewer system, except for minor subdivisions not
involving the creation of a new lot.
All projects requiring
a Treatment Works Approval, in all towns, must first receive
preliminary subdivision and/or site plan approval from the appropriate
body of the municipality having jurisdiction, prior to filing for
Authority approval.
In
the Authority's Member Towns, it is important that the Certificate of
Occupancy not be issued prior to the builder/homeowner providing proof
that the Authority has inspected the sanitary sewer connection and
that the Authority’s Connection Fee and all other related fees has
been paid.
Additionally, demolition permits must not be issued without proof that
the sanitary sewer has been properly inspected and disconnected, as
per the Authority’s Rules and Regulations. The Authority issues
certificates for disconnections and reconnections, with a raised seal,
for submission to the Municipality's Construction Office indicating
the property has been properly inspected for a disconnection or
reconnection.
